"Where Can Daddy Be"

He woke me up so gently
With a kiss like morning dew
Standing there beside my bed
A miniature of you
I thought my heart was breaking
When he said these words to me
"Tell me Mommy, where can Daddy be?"

Prejean's Courage PDF Print E-mail
Written by Patti Lynn

In today's politically correct climate, real courage is required to stand up for traditional values. This is the sad state affairs in America today, but to Miss California, Carrie Prejean's credit, she chose to stand strong on her belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman. From the liberal reaction to this Christian based concept, you would have thought Miss Prejean had committed some major crime or held some way out or damaging idea rather than an opinion held by most Americans.

Her answer to Perez Hilton on how she felt about same sex marriage may have cost her the Miss USA crown, but something far more valuable has come out of this fire storm.  This incident brought to national attention the brutal tactics of a pathologically intolerant left when challenged. The MSM took up the liberal attack and attempted to ridicule Miss Prejean. The Left portrays anyone who dares to break ranks with their political correctness as an unthinking individual! Their approach is to silence through intimidation and ridicule, clear and simple.

Bible believing Christians, Conservatives and the majority of Americans that share these traditional beliefs don't have a propaganda network of newspapers and television networks like Liberals. But on the other hand, traditional Americans can't be forced (at least not yet) into supporting this assault on America's foundation. The companies that own the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Minneapolis Star-Tribune and Philadelphia Daily News have all filed for bankruptcy. The broadcast TV networks, MSNBC and CNN all have declining viewership compared to more balanced news sources. You can do your part by cancelling subscriptions and you can stop watching the Liberal propaganda on TV.

In the future, more and more courage will be needed to stand up against this relentless attach on our Christian beliefs. Miss Prejean's willingness to stand strong on what she believed may have served to give courage to others who have been too willing to forego their heart felt beliefs in order to be accepted by the politically correct. It may have been difficult for the California beauty to answer as she did knowing full well what a hot button issue her question addressed and that there may be a heavy price to pay- even losing the crown. No matter, she spoke the truth from her heart anyway-- and that took courage. Thank you, Miss California!

Philadelphia Tax Day Tea Party PDF Print E-mail

Patti Clark Barnett, Love Park, Philadelphia, Tea Party April 2009Stan and I decided to take the R5 into Philadelphia today to see what these Tea Parties were all about. Neither one of us had ever attended a political/protest rally and since we are both conservative patriots, this seemed as good of time as any to give it a try. It was cold, windy and rainy but that didn't keep the patriots from showing up in droves.  The commitment and concern of the protestors for our country was amply demonstrated.

Love Park was an amazing scene of people huddled under brightly colored umbrellas that poked and poured rain on each other. There were several enthusiastic speakers sending the clarion call loud and clear for more responsible leadership in Washington,  declaring that we are fed up and not going to take it anymore…well, good luck with that one!. The main message was that conservative values and principles are alive and well despite the seemingly overwhelming evidence in Washington and on the nightly news that suggest otherwise.

There were several speakers.  Organizer Diana Reimer, head of the Philadelphia Tax Day Tea Party went first explaining that the protestors have a simple demand, "repeal the pork, cut taxes".

Next up was financial author Paul Karcher, who got a roaring cheer from the drenched crowd when he shouted, "I guess I'm someone who could be called a clinger. I cling to my guns and my religion!"

There were all sorts of signs bearing messages that told the world how the grass roots movement is standing up against big government expansion, out of control spending, higher taxes. There were some very creative expressions of concern about the direction in which the country is headed.

We stayed huddled under our umbrella until it was almost over. But we left before the parading of the colors down the same streets the liberty loving Founding Fathers traveled. They must have felt an enormous sense of pride and love for America after the formulation and signing of the documents that gave us the freedom and privilege of peaceful assembly that we witnessed in Philadelphia today.

The Queen Is Not Stuffy PDF Print E-mail

After the hullaballoo over Michelle Obama's touching Queen Elizabeth ll on the back and failing to curtsy, I just have to share this.

The media would have us think that protocol is ALL IMPORTANT with the Queen and her family. I beg to differ. As you have seen, I did a pencil portrait of Her Majesty and Prince Philip after I saw her in a documentary chronicling sittings for her portrait done around her 80th birthday. I could not believe the down to earthiness, quick wit and charm she showed in that film. I felt we were seeing the real Queen Elizabeth for the first time. She was feisty, sometimes a bit testy and full of good humor. And sometimes a bit bored with sitting and sometimes, it seemed, annoyed with the artist, too. Well, I just fell for her all over again.

Have you ever wanted to do something for somebody just because you found them so endearing? That's how I felt after watching the documentary. I hesitated to do a lowly pencil portrait after all the grand paintings I had seen of her, but I thought just maybe she would like a simple pencil from a simple person. I determined to draw from the photo I saw of her and Prince Philip in the Daily Telegraph and send it to her, not knowing if it would ever see the light of day. In my accompanying letter, I told her how much I had enjoyed the documentary and even dared to tell her she was, 'down right cute'! Can't believe I did that but I did because that is exactly how I felt about her. I rather think she got a chuckle out of it because she definitely has a sense of humor.

Did she get it? According to her Lady-in-waiting (The Queen doesn't write, I hear), yes, she did. Was she insulted to high heavens that I said she was down right cute? Apparently, not in the least. Did she like her portrait? She was delighted according to the lady-in- waiting who mentioned Her Majesty's appreciation repeatedly. I acknowledge the Brits are gracious but that response was so sincerely appreciative that I tend to believe she did get it and that it was well received

I may have committed a serious breach in protocol. But my letter and portrait would have been ignored if it had been insulting. So, rest assured, I don't believe she was at all perturbed by Michelle Obama's protocol deficiencies. Don't know how well she liked the IPod, but Michelle's warmth was probably appreciated.

Pray for Failure? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Patti Lynn
Sunday, 15 March 2009 19:19

Recently, Rush Limbaugh said he wanted the President to fail. The MSM took his words out of context and dismissed the fact that Rush was commenting on Obama's policies to nationalize banks, insurance companies and the American auto industry, his plan to dramatically increase the size of the government, institute socialized medicine and to use our tax money to promote abortion in other countries.  Limbaugh wants Obama's plans to destroy this country to fail and he hopes and prays, as we all should, that the drive towards socialism fails. Pray that America will remain a free capitalistic democracy and that we will not be forced to be wards of the state.

This recent article, "How I'm Praying for the President" by Paul Edwards is well worth sharing. I hope you will take the time to read it all.
