So much has gone down today that it is hard to know where to begin opining. But opine I must. First, I learn of Miley Cyrus shedding some clothes for semi-nude photos. Then I am watching Rev. Jeremiah Wright contributing to the collapse of the Obama campaign. Talk about a wrecking ball!! Demolition companies should bid on this guy.

Even I can see Reverend Jeremiah Wright is a pseudo intellectual. The man made little to no sense in his rambling rant of a speech at the, National Press Club today. He was clearly enjoying his new found infamy! He not only verified, but boldly underscored, what most thoughtful people had strongly suspected before today’s performance. Reverend Jeremiah Wright is an American despiser, racial divider, megalomaniac and liar who may; however, believe some of his outrageous accusations. What a rabble rouser!  He simply delights in digging up bones of the past and demanding apologies from white America for slavery. He is, in general, just a very unpleasant and potentially dangerous man. He preaches some sort of unity in one breath and racial strife and the evils committed by the US government in the next..
 
He comes off with enough questionable historical references and Biblical rhetoric to confuse the masses who never read the Good Book. He glibly throws out terms like, hermeneutics and homiletics and quotes some passages from the Old Testament (supposedly supporting his wobbly stance and belief system). And by this, he passes himself off as a scholarly man of the cloth. For once, the New York Times, may have had it right when they branded him (according to Wright himself) as a “Wack-a-doodle”.
 
I am familiar with the verse in scripture, “Touch not mine anointed”. And I would not dare touch Reverend Wright if he were, indeed, anointed. An anointed man does not, from the pulpit or anywhere else, promote strife and division. An anointed man does not lie to his congregation while pounding into their hearts and minds unfounded and baseless facts. An anointed man does not preach hatred for his country, government and the white race.
 
Now, after the horse is out of the barn, so to speak, pundits are advising Obama to come out and totally disconnect himself from his friend, mentor and spiritual adviser. All the repudiation in the world doesn’t matter a whit now. Wright has already said Barack, as a politician, will say what he needs to say to get the nomination. He got that right!  Well, on the up side, I can only say we all should thank the good Reverend for opening the eyes of those who are willing to see. But as we’ve always heard, “None are so blind as he who will NOT see”.
 
Now on to Miley Cyrus. Why would this teen idol, making millions, having the adulation, love and respect of millions of decent kids and thankful parents, pose in the semi-nude photos for a magazine??? I’ll tell you why. That simple minded daddy of hers, Billy Ray Cyrus, likely encouraged her to do it. Like they don’t have enough fame and money already!  I have always, and always will, contend that money can’t buy class…or good sense. Education, yes, but not wisdom, grace or goodness. Silly Billy is even posing with Miley in one shot. Since his, “Achey, Breaky” fame has long ago disappeared, I guess he feels somewhat regenerated and is living vicariously through his daughter’s fame. More skin pics like today’s may pave the way for Miley to go the way of her predecessors like Brittany and Paris. Harsh assessments perhaps. But neither you nor I should brook such folly with total indifference. Make your voice/thoughts heard!
