Help! Somebody please help me!
For some reason this Geico commercial featuring Little Richard comes to mind whenever I think of my frustration and desperation being dragged kicking and screaming into the technological world of the twenty first century. I was perfectly contented in my computer free world, but alas that is all about to change. My husband, on whom I have depended to do all of my internet business for lo these many years has balked and no longer believes I’m incapable of doing it myself. I tell him creative people are by nature non technical individuals, but he’s no longer buying it, so here I go plunging into the sea of bloggersfear. In the event I sink and you don’t have the opportunity to hear my gravitas views on politics, religion etc. and check out my songs, I will leave you with this song reflecting my initial sentiments about the one- eyed monster, “ROM”.
ROM
This the music file for ROM.
My baby said he’s bringing home the latest in computers
That box he couldn’t wait for me to see
I said I’d learn to use that thing
If he would learn to dance and sing
A deal on which we barely could agree
My knowledge of technology
I know’s not what it oughta be
I’m talking TV, radio and telephone
Though that’s good enough where I come from
I’d try to welcome to my home
His world of floppy disk and CD ROM
But this DRAM SCSI DIP’s
a download of drop data chip
This Bin Hex trash trying hard to drive me crazy
I’m tired of RAM drop drag and click
Control alt delete byte and bit
But by jacks I thought this Fax modems amazing
Until I talked to cousin Iris
She said these things get the virus
That they got a life and language of their own
Worms and VGA internal, dpi and SIMM external
And I don’t need no mouse or crawlers in my home
Ethernet or not
I’ll hit the F-keys boot the bot.
This data file MIPDQ CD ROM
And as soon as he comes home
We’ll pull down windows, load up ROM
And take that one-eyed monster
Back where he came from
