Extended Family I’ve got a Pennsylvania Papa And a big Miami Mama Lots of brothers and sisters in between From L.A. to Nova Scotia When my Mama took a notion She would change our papas like a pair of jeans
From November through September We do most of all our living Scattered somewhere from New York to Abilene But we try to get together For the family reunion Once a year we all go home for Halloween
Chorus:
We’re separated but we’re blended as can be We’re grafted in but we’re proud of our family tree Sociology may say we form a muddy pool of genes We’re just your typical extended family There’ll be kin folk by the dozen Like my first or second cousin Who’s my uncle on my second daddy’s side He’s just ten days out of prison And my sister they call Mister Is the one he’s now a wantin’ for his bride
My half brother Bill’s a stripper And the quarter one’s a drifter Floatin’ high on angel dust and he’s so glad His ex-wife, my sister Becky’s gonna send the kids So they can spend some quality time with their dad
(Repeat Chorus)
Little Suzie just can’t make it And she says she aint a takin’ No more beatin’ from her boy friend again And as soon as she recovers From the bullet from her other lover She thinks they can still be best of friends
Her baby Buzz has started drinkin’ And it’s messin’ up his thinkin’ He’s drying out somewhere in Tupelo She just called to say "Hello" And tomorrow she’ll be goin’ With her husband on the Jerry Springer Show
